Linda Gray is one of TV’s most beloved stars courtesy of her heart-rendering portrayal of Sue Ellen Ewing on Dallas. The actress took a break from social media after suffering a personal loss but is now sharing a special message with her followers.
Linda Gray Reaches Out
Last year, Gray’s son Jeff, passed away. The actress received an outpouring of support via social media posts after she shared a memorial for her son on her Instagram account. “A celebration of my son Jeff’s life,” Gray posted. “He was the kindest, funniest, sweetest human being….. he brought the world such love and was loved by everyone! May his journey be a magical one. ❤️🙏🏻😢🚴♂️.”
Recently, Gray gave fans an update on how she is doing. “Hi, everybody,” Gray said. “It’s Linda. I took a little break from social media…it’s been a rough year. It has for everybody, but when my son passed I couldn’t talk to anybody.”
The actress shared that she deeply appreciates all the care and kind words that she has received and continues to receive. “I send you all my love and thanks for all the love and support that you did send me during this rough time, so sending you a big virtual hug and thanks.
“I hope this is a much better year for everybody,” Gray adds. “Love to you all, virtual hugs to you, too.”
The writers and producers of Dallas expanded Gray’s role after a performance she gave in one of the show’s early episodes. J.R.’s (Larry Hagman) philandering had caused Sue Ellen to be not only humiliated but she was put in danger. After the threat was resolved, she shot J.R. a powerful and emotional look. The creative team picked up on that and Sue Ellen soon was thrust into the forefront of the action.
Gray received a Primetime Emmy nomination in the category of Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series in 1981 for her portrayal of Sue Ellen along with nominations for Best Performance by an Actress in a Television Series – Drama at the Golden Globes in 1981 and 1982.
Linda Gray left Dallas in 1989, returning to the beloved series for its 1991 finale, two reunion movies in the 1990s, and the show’s TNT revival in 2012. Gray also starred on Models, Inc. in 1994, and she played the part of Priscilla on The Bold and the Beautiful in 2004. Check out the actress’s post below.
