Chrishell Stause and Gleb Savchenko had a lot working in their favor going into last night’s elimination on Dancing With the Stars but in the end, it wasn’t meant to be for the Selling Sunset star.
Sure there was a double-elimination scheduled, but The Real’s Jeannie Mai had to drop out due to health concerns so, the rest of the contestants only had to worry about one other slot.
Despite Stause and Savchenko’s passionate Viennese Walt, and picking up additional points in a second dance, the former Days of our Lives star and her partner were sent home.
“Every week, I feel more confident,” Stause said in the pre-dance video package, noting the progress she’d been making throughout the season. “Being on Dancing With the Stars is a full-time job. While doing the show, I’m having to do my full-time job at a high-end real estate [firm] where we film [the Netflix series] Selling Sunset.”
While practicing her routines for the week, Stause was also juggling three huge listings. She credits her colleagues and Selling Sunset co-stars Mary Fitzgerald and Jason Oppenheim for helping her get through the week.
“They’ve been amazing at helping me pick up the slack,” Stause says. “I really need to go out there and show them that they’re helping me for a reason and make them proud!”
The couple’s Viennese Waltz wowed the judges. “Very well done, graceful,” noted Carrie Ann Inaba. “Sexy, also, I will say.”
The judge and host of The Talk also had a critique of Chrishell Stause’s moves. “Your arm is out of hold,” Inaba noted. “Your neck cranks a little. If you can hide how you feel inside, that’d be so great.”
“My heart is beating so fast,” Derek Hough said, noting how passionate the couple’s performance was. “I can see you improving each week, which I think is fantastic.” He added: “Watch your arms and transitions. The transitions need to be seamless.”
“I was thinking about so many things while I was watching that,” Bruno Tonioli added. “None of them had anything to do with the Viennese Waltz! Nevertheless, you have some very good moments while you’re dancing but you have to be able to sustain it. You have to continue the same level all the way through, but [do] more of that, thank you.”
Alas, the pair won’t be doing anymore as it came down between them and actress Skai Jackson and her pro, Alan Bersten, as to which couple would be let go. The judges unanimously chose the latter duo. No word yet if Chrishell Stause and Gleb Savchenko and the other ejected couples will return for the DWTS finale later this season as happens in most non-pandemic seasons. Dancing With the Stars airs Mondays at 8 p.m. ET on ABC.
