This is one April 1st announcement that is NOT an April Fool’s Day joke! NBC has announced that the highly anticipated Christopher Meloni series Law & Order: Organized Crime has a premiere date. Yep, it’s debuting on Thursday, April 1 at 10 p.m. ET. But that’s not all.

Chris Meloni — SVU Neighbor

The show will air immediately following an episode of Law & Order: SVU, the series on which Meloni debuted as Det. Elliot Stabler. He left the program in 2011 and went on to appear in several series as either a regular (Surviving Jack; Happy!) or guest star (Family Guy; Veep; True Blood).

Captain Olivia Benson (Mariska Hargitay) and Stabler will reunite first on SVU, which will air at 9 p.m. on April 1 just before the debut of Law & Order: Organized Crime. The new series chronicles Stabler’s return to the New York City police department after he suffers a “devastating personal loss.”

Watch for Stabler to join a high-level task force whose job it is to take on New York City’s biggest criminals as he works on rebuilding his personal life.

Law & Order: SVU debuted on September 30, 1999, as part of the Law & Order franchise, which was created by Dick Wolf. It became the longest scripted primetime series on TV after the premiere of its 21st season in 2019.

April 1st is a big night for NBC. In addition to two hours of Law & Order shows, Season 3 of the mystery drama Manifest premieres. Manifest airs at 8 p.m. ET. Check out the posts below from the official accounts belonging to both Law & Order: SVU and Meloni. Law & Order: SVU airs Thursdays at 9 p.m. ET and on April 1, watch for Law & Order: Organized Crime to debut at 10 p.m.
