Bruce Springsteen Hits Broadway In Nostalgic Biographical Review

Bruce Springsteen is officially a Broadway baby. On Thursday, ‘The Boss’ took up residency at the Walter Kerr Theatre, a house that holds an audience of only 975.

That’s a small venue for this big talent, but Springsteen likes it that way and so do his fans. In fact, the originally planned eight-week run sold out so quickly that the rocker extended his NYC engagement.

This one-man show, simply called Springsteen On Broadway, now features the New Jersey-born and -bred talent in five shows a week through February 3, 2018.

“I wanted to do some shows that were as personal and as intimate as possible. I chose Broadway for this project because it has the beautiful old theaters which seemed like the right setting…” Springsteen said on his website.

He added: “The Walter Kerr Theatre is probably the smallest venue [I have] played in the last 40 years,” explaining that the performance “is just me, the guitar, the piano and the words and music.”

Spoken moments punctuate the two-hour show that examines this superstar’s life and work.

“All of it together is in pursuit of my constant goal to provide an entertaining evening and to communicate something of value.”

Springsteen’s Broadway set list includes 15 iconic tunes: Growin’ Up, My Hometown, My Father’s House, The Wish, Thunder Road, The Promised Land, Born in the USA, Tenth Avenue Freeze-Out, Tougher Than the Rest (a Patti Scialfa duet), Brilliant Disguise (also with Patti Scialfa), Long Walk Home, The Rising, Dancing in the Dark, Land of Hope and Dreams and Born to Run.

All Springsteen On Broadway performances are sold out. However, an online lottery is active so you may be able to catch the music legend in his popular show after all. Good luck!
