Bob Newhart is a comedy legend, first finding success as a stand-up before branching out to star in two classic TV shows—The Bob Newhart Show and Newhart, with plenty of talk shows, guest spots, and movie appearances along the way.

Bob Newhard Reveals He’s Streaming

Known for his stammering style and deadpan observational humor, he’s considered one of the top standups of all time, and his records are among the best-selling comedy albums of all-time.

The comedian is now entering the streaming business, as “Bob Newhart – Off The Record” is available as of today on Amazon Prime, Apple TV, VUDU, and through listening streams on Pandora, Spotify, iTunes, and more.

The standup special originally aired 25 years ago—the only TV special the legendary comedian ever did, and the performance is being released to celebrate the landmark anniversary.

The Bob Newhart Twitter page announced the exciting news, which has been a long-time coming for fans.

“Off the Record is the first official streaming stand up performance and includes many classic routines from the Grammy Award winning Button Down Mind of Bob Newhart,” the post read.

Expect Newhart to perform some of his most famous routines, including the nervous driving instructor, the school for rude bus drivers, King Kong and the new security guard and many more.

In more recent years, Newhart has made appearances in The Big Bang Theory (as well as its spinoff Young Sheldon), playing a former TV kid’s show scientist, Professor Proton, a role he won his first Emmy Award for. He also was an important part of the Will Farrell movie Elf (playing Papa Elf). Newhart recently joined the cast of the 2003 hit movie to do a special reading to raise money for Georgia democrats.

Now 91, Newhart continues to bring the laughs, and hopefully a new generation of fans will watch Bob Newhart – Off The Record and appreciate his comic genius.
