On Friday’s Blue Bloods episode called Out of the Blue, a detective who had been testifying against a career criminal was obliterated by gun fire that seemed to come out of nowhere.
This happened in front of his house and right after his wife had delivered him a hot drink and then ducked inside.
Danny (Donnie Wahlberg) and Baez (Marisa Ramirez) hit this case hard because he believed this hit was professional with no leftover evidence of any kind except a dead body. The deceased did get the chance to utter his last word, directed at Baez: He said, “Coffee.”
Since that’s the mobster’s last name, Danny concluded that the perp was related in one way or another.
Meanwhile, Garrett (Gregory Jbara) was hit by a S.W.A.T. team that mysteriously turned up at his house, causing his wife to be held down by law enforcement when she went outside to investigate.
She ended up under observation at the hospital where Frank (Tom Selleck) tried to calm frayed nerves. The big boss told Garrett that someone had called the team to intervene because he was allegedly holding his spouse hostage.
As for Erin (Bridget Moynahan)? She was working out when a guy who had no fitness intensions started shadowing her. He insisted he’s been bugging her because he wanted to help her bring down a bad guy.
Anthony (Steve Schirripa) wasn’t good with this concept after catching up on the case that had the faux gym rat conversing with Erin when he returned to the office. He was familiar with the guy, someone who was not to be trusted.
Still, Erin became involved, providing a Porsche as a way to get to the gangster. She ultimately realized she took a wrong turn by doing that.
But, back to Danny. He had suspected the wrong guy in the detective’s murder. Instead, the person who done the deed was Carol’s lover and the dead man’s colleague, Ogden (Jake Ventimiglia).
It seemed the two planned the attack, with Carol handing over hot coffee so he would grab the mug in his right hand, meaning he couldn’t grab his gun in defense when the attack happened. Mystery solved.
Blue Bloods airs Fridays at 10 p.m., ET, on CBS.
