Blue Bloods fans were devastated when Season 8 began with the reveal that Amy Carlson’s fan-favorite character Linda Reagan was killed—having died in a helicopter crash.
Because it happened off-screen, viewers never got a sense of closure. But now, three years after exiting the hit CBS show, Carlson is returning to the network for Season 2 of FBI: Most Wanted.
Deadline reported the news that the actress will recur on the show as Jackie Ward, a veteran bounty hunter who has previously crossed paths with Julian McMahon’s Jess. Her character is described as “a force of nature” and “good at her job,” but also a thorn in the FBI’s team’s side.
Carlson confirmed the news on her Instagram, linking to the story about her coming back to CBS.
“Oh how I have missed you!!!” she wrote. “I do hope you will come with me on this journey on FBI: MOST WANTED. I am truly excited about this incredible character and show! I have been a fan of this show since it started and am so happy to join them in their amazing series.”
Daytime fans may remember that Carlson and McMahon were once linked on the now-defunct NBC soap Another World, playing lovebirds Josie and Ian. Interestingly, it was Josie’s desire to enter law enforcement that ultimately broke the pair up.
The actress posted a throwback photo of the couple on her Instagram, happy that she’s a packrat and never throws things away.
“Fun fact for a true #FBF working with [Julian] back in the day,” she wrote next to the shot, hashtagging her former soap. “#handsomedevil you can see the staple from the press pack sent to me eons ago.”
Expect similar chemistry to fly between Jackie and Jess when Amy Carlson makes her debut on FBI: Most Wanted. The show airs Tuesdays on CBS. Check your local listings for airtimes.
