Big Little Lies is all about complicated relationships, including the relationship between a mother and a daughter.
For Madeline (Reese Witherspoon) and Abigail (Kathryn Newton), their relationship is especially complicated considering they don’t see eye to eye on practically anything. In the video above, which is a scene from Season 1, Madeline yells at Abigail for wanting to sell her virginity on the Internet to the highest bidder.
“This is wrong, Abigail. Completely wrong. And I salute your cause, I really do,” Madeline says in the clip. Of course, this causes even more friction with Abigail — until something Madeline says blows her daughter away.
