Big Little Lies Flashback Video: Inside Season 1 Finale

The final episode of Big Little Lies Season 1 was one for the books. Not only did the women band together to take out the bad guy, it brought immense closure to the story.

In the video above, director Jean-Marc Vallée opens up about shooting that pivotal scene for Celeste (Nicole Kidman), Madeline (Reese Witherspoon), Renata (Laura Dern), Jane (Shailene Woodley), and especially Bonnie (Zoë Kravitz) — and what it was like to shoot for so long.

“That was the toughest thing I ever shot. Two weeks, nighttime, from eight o’clock at night to six o’clock in the morning. All of the cast, all of the Greek chorus characters, the singing…to cover all these different points of view, that was so tough,” he says.
