Big Little Lies Flashback Video: Inside Season 1, Episode 4

Season 1 of Big Little Lies focused on mothers and their children, but as the season progressed, we saw there’s so much more to these women than meets the eye.

In the video above, executive producer David E. Kelley discusses the pivotal scene in Episode 4 in which Celeste (Nicole Kidman) and Madeline (Reese Witherspoon) reveal they want more in life than just being mothers.

“Women are expected, still today, to believe that motherhood is everything. We still adhere to this sexist attitude that motherhood should be enough and you don’t have to go looking for more than that in life,” Kelley says.
