Beverly Hills 90210 Returns… With A Twist!

The original gang from Beverly Hills 90210 is coming back to television. And you’re going to be seeing them in a way that you never have before!

Fox, which aired the original series that ran from 1990-2000, has announced that most of the show’s cast — Jason Priestly (Brandon), Jennie Garth (Kelly), Tori Spelling (Donna), Brian Austin Green (David), Gabrielle Carteris (Andrea), and Ian Ziering (Steve) — are slated to appear in a six-episode series that will air this summer.

The story won’t exactly be picking up from where the finale left off. In this version, the actors will be playing heightened and irreverent versions of themselves (perhaps not unlike Matt LeBlanc did on Showtime’s Episodes) as they contemplate reviving the original show.

No word yet on if Luke Perry (Dylan; Fred Andrews, Riverdale) or Shannon Doherty (Brenda) will appear on the series, but it remains a possibility that they will.

In addition to appearing on screen, Priestly, Garth, Spelling, Green, Carteris, and Ziering will serve as executive producers on the limited series.

Chris Alberghini and Mike Chessler (90210, Awkward) will write and executive-produce the show, set to air this summer.

“Beverly Hills, 90210 left an indelible impact on pop culture and an entire generation,” said Michael Thorn, President, Entertainment, FOX, in a statement. “Its powerful legacy is an important part of our network’s DNA – bold stories not told anywhere else and bigger-than-life-characters – and we’re honored to bring back the beloved original cast members for 90210.”

Some of the show’s original cast members briefly reprised their roles in the CW series 90210, which told stories of a new generation.
