Betty White Gets Outpouring of Love From Hollywood on 99th Birthday

On Sunday, legendary actress Betty White turned 99, and the iconic actress celebrated her birthday by doing what she does best—being funny.

“Would you believe it?! It’s my 99th birthday which means I can stay up as late as I want without asking,” White wrote on Twitter.

The Golden Girl has been around Hollywood for as long as anyone can remember. In fact, a popular Facebook post going around yesterday noted sliced bread was invented in 1928, so sliced bread was the greatest thing since Betty White!

A bevy of celebrities sent White best wishes on her special day, with everyone from William Shatner to Josh Gad to Ryan Reynolds chiming in.

“We made this 12 years ago,” Reynolds wrote on an Instagram Story, adding a clip of the movie, The Proposal. “Betty turns 99 today, but she is 100% the funniest person on the planet.”

Ed Asner, who starred alongside White on The Mary Tyler Moore Show, sent a special message of his own.

“I still get warm when I see this look,” he wrote on Twitter, above a photo of the two of them on set. “Happy 99 baby. You are a testament to living life on your own terms. Sending you a great big socially distanced kiss. I love you.”

White also took to social media to tell fans about a special project that will be coming out in 2021.

“I am also very pleased to let you know about the re-release of my long-lost series after fifty years!” she wrote. “I am just so proud of the ‘Pet Set.’ I hope everyone is safe and well.”

The Pet Set was a talk show that White hosted back in 1971 and featured fellow animal-loving actors such as Doris Day, Burt Reynolds, Mary Tyler Moore, and Jimmy Stewart. There were 39 half-hour episodes, and now they’re going to be released! Entertainment Hub joins everyone in wishing Betty White well and hoping she had a wonderful birthday!
