Leave it to Bachelor contestant Bekah Martinez to keep it real on Instagram! You’re not going to believe what she’s calling people out for now — but you may actually agree with her!
The new mother of one shared on Instagram that she wants people to stop putting pressure on mothers to get back to their pre-baby weight.
In fact, the 24-year-old said she wants people to stop applauding mothers who “are lucky to get their pre-baby bods back.” But her reason is solid!
“Lucky is getting the opportunity to carry a child within you,” the reality star alum captioned a photo of herself breastfeeding her daughter, Ruthie.
“Lucky is having a healthy baby. Lucky is watching your body change after bringing new life into the world, not squeezing into your old high-waisted jeans a week after giving birth.”
She continued, “My face is swollen, I’m wearing a diaper, and my belly hangs over my sweats. I am truly lucky.”
Preach it, Bekah!
A number of women applauded Bekah’s message and thanked her for keeping it real on social media.
“Yes! I hate that women are supposed to see how fast they can get back to pre-pregnancy weight! Thank you for celebrating the beautiful,” one woman commented.
“Thank you for saying this. I wish I was so lucky to be able to carry a child within me. You’re amazing,” another person wrote.
“Absolutely. When women post pics of their pre baby body and say they can’t wait to get back, come on, focus on the baby. You’re so right.”
One other person added, “You are creating such a powerful and positive dialogue about pregnancy, birth, and motherhood.”
Bekah gave birth to her little girl earlier this month and has been happily sharing photos of her on Instagram.
Not only was Bekah open throughout her pregnancy, but she has been honest and authentic about life postpartum too.
