Former Bachelorette couple, Kaitlyn Bristowe and Shawn Booth, announced they were splitting after three years together last week, but the breakup was a long time coming.
While it may have been a bit of a surprise to some fans — seeing as Kaitlyn and Shawn were very committed to one another — ultimately the writing was on the wall.
And, according to E! News, the former pair’s Bachelor Nation friends were also not very shocked to hear about the split.
“It was not a shock. No one in our circle is surprised by their decision to split,” a close friend of the couple revealed.
In fact, rumors about the couple had been swirling for months, so by the time they decided to announce the breakup it was a relief for everyone around them.
“Whenever anyone has been around or hanging out with either Kaitlyn or Shawn, we knew not to bring it up. It was definitely the elephant in the room.”
Despite being a solid couple for so long, people within their circle knew they would never make it down the aisle.

“Everyone knew they have been having problems, but they weren’t ready to address it and we respected that,” the source said.
“Kaitlyn and Shawn are great people on their own but you could tell they weren’t going to ever make it down the aisle together.”
In fact, they had been living together for a few months before the split but they would barely ever see one another.
“They technically live together, but they barely see or spend time together anymore,” a source explained.
“It’s been a rough couple of months for them and they’ve been trying to figure out their balance, but it just isn’t working.”
We are still sad to hear about Kaitlyn and Shawn’s split, but we know it’s what’s best for the both of them.
