Happily-ever-afters do exist!
Bachelor: Vietnam made headlines a few weeks ago after a contestant named Minh Thu asked a fellow contestant named Truc Nhu to leave the show with her.
Though Truc initially decided to stay on the show at that time, the pair are officially together now!
In fact, the show’s executive producer, Anh Tran, confirmed the happy news. “They left the show and have been together since. We delivered on our promise that two people would find love,” Anh told Nextshark.
A social media post about the pair went viral last week and explained why they decided to wait to get together.
“They just wanted to make sure their feelings weren’t just a misconception of love because they are so close,” the post explained.
Another user opened up about why this story is especially important to them.
“This gives me so much hope as a Vietnamese closeted queer. I’m so glad to see our society is much more open and accepting than it used to be,” the user said.
“I’m so happy for them that they are able to live proudly and stay true to their feelings. I hope one day I would be [sic] fortunate enough to be like them.”
All of this began during last month’s episode of Bachelor: Vietnam when Minh explained to the Bachelor, Nguyen Quoc Trung, that she was in love with Truc instead.
“I went into this competition to find love. But I’ve found that love for myself. But it isn’t you. It’s someone else,” she said.
Another show producer named Anh-Thu Nguyen explained why this same-sex love story is especially important in Vietnam.
“It’s been a proud experience to see our clip resonate around the world and become an unexpected platform for discussing LGBTQI+ issues in Vietnam on a global scale,” she shared.
