Another one of Cookie and Lucious’ children from Empire is in trouble (but not really) with the law in Chicago — and this time it’s not Jussie Smollett.
TMZ is reporting that Bryshere Gray, who plays Hakeem Lyon on Empire, was arrested last week for some offenses related to driving.
He was pulled over while driving because of a registration matter because the tags didn’t match the car they were on. What happened next was that officers discovered he was driving without a license or insurance.
Per TMZ, Gray was booked on a misdemeanor charge and was later released.
A native of Little Rock, Arkansas, Gray’s family moved to West Philadelphia, Pennsylvania following his parents’ divorce. He began using his talents as a performer to help earn money for this family.
In addition to his role on Empire, Gray is known for playing real-life singer Michael Bivins in the BET miniseries about R&B band New Edition.
Gray is on board for Empire’s next season. Jussie Smollett, who played Gray’s onscreen brother Jamal, was written out of the final episodes of Season 5, following backlash after he was accused of staging his own hate crime earlier this year — also in Chicago. He will not be returning for the final season.
Empire is set to return this fall for a sixth and final season on Fox.
