Fresh off her spin in the Dancing With the Stars ballroom, actress Anne Heche is headed to a (fictitious) Los Angeles courthouse on a primetime drama for the eye network.
Anne Heche Joins All Rise
Deadline was the first to report that Heche will be joining the CBS legal procedural All Rise in a recurring capacity as trial attorney Corrine Cuthbert.
Cuthbert, who specializes in defending police officers accused of violent crimes, is described as, “wicked smart,” and a courtroom shark who uses her humor “as a distraction while she verbally destroys anyone who gets in her way.”
The show, currently in its sophomore season, has a different take than many legal dramas in that its focus is more on the lives of the various judges, prosecutors, and public defenders working at an L.A. County courthouse, with a laser focus on the new judge, Lola Carmichael (Simone Missick).
Heche, who began her acting career in 1987 when she assumed the dual-role of identical twins Victoria “Vicky” Hudson and Marley Love on NBC’s Another World, will find other daytime alums on the set. Marg Helgenberger (ex-Siobhan, Ryan’s Hope), plays Judge Lisa Benner and Wilson Bethel (ex-Ryder, The Young and the Restless) plays Mark Callan.
Heche appeared in a number of commercially successful films throughout the 1990s, chief among them Volcano (1997), I Know What You Did Last Summer (1997), Wag the Dog (1997), Donnie Brasco (1997), and Six Days, Seven Nights (1998).
Heche also scored a number of roles in series like Nip/Tuck (2004-2005), Men in Trees (2006), and Hung (2009-2011). In 2014, Heche co-created, executive produced, and wrote episodes of the Kate Walsh vehicle Bad Judge.
Heche’s most recent acting credits include a recurring part on Chicago P.D. (ex-Deputy Superintendent Katherine Brennan) and a starring role in the military drama The Brave (ex-Deputy Director of the Defense Intelligence Agency). All Rise airs Monday nights on CBS.
