John (Drake Hogestyn) has had his share of identities – and women — since first surfacing on Days of Our Lives back in 1986. Originally, he fell in love with Marlena, believing he was her presumed dead husband, Roman. Later, he went on to marry and conceive a child with Isabella. Then, there was his short-lived romance with Kate. Soap Hub asked fans which woman you think was best with John.

“Jarlena” Forever
It’s Marlena (Deidre Hall) by a landslide. No surprise here. Some 70% of fans believe she is John’s true love and soulmate. She befriended and guided him when he arrived in Salem as The Pawn, a man with no identity. As their friendship grew, it developed into a strong unbreakable bond, surpassing all others. As a result, you think “Doc” will always be #1 in John’s heart and his best match.

When Marlena was presumed dead, Isabella (Staci Greason) entered John’s life, helped him put his shattered life back together, and slowly taught him to believe in love again. A tiny 1% actually prefer Kate (Lauren Koslow) with John and feel she was the best woman he was ever paired with. John’s affection transformed the usually self-centered Kate. She stood by his side and offered her support, while he battled an addiction to pain killers. It was a real, adult love story and, given the chance, you think they could have emerged into a real Salem power couple.
