Oh, noes, Abigail Deveraux DiMera is dead on Days of our Lives! Her husband, Chad DiMera, is inconsolable and hallucinating his lost love. Dad Jack Deveraux is delivering a soliloquy to her corpse while mom Jennifer Horton Deveraux…stands around looking mildly perturbed.

Days of our Lives: Death Becomes Them

Uncle Lucas Horton (Bryan Dattilo) is sobbing into his beer, and, double oh, noes, how will we tell her adorable moppets, Thomas and Charlotte? We’re wondering, why tell the moppets anything? Why shed a single tear? How can any Salem citizen take death seriously?

DOOL: Been There, Done That

To start with, Abigail (Marci Miller), herself, has already been dead. Chad (Billy Flynn), Jack (Matthew Ashford), and Jennifer (Cady McClain) have already taken their turn grieving. It was totes sad. And totes meaningless once Abigail was found alive.

Days of our Lives: It’s In The Genes

And let’s not discuss how many times Jack has been pronounced dead, sometimes being gone for decades, only to eventually come waltzing back in, none the worse for wear. The same thing happened to Horton matriarch, Alice Horton (Frances Reid), once believed to be a victim of death by donuts.

Most recently, it happened to Abigail’s cousin, Will Horton (Chandler Massey), to Nicole Walker (Arianne Zucker), and to Ciara Brady Weston (Victoria Konefal). And let’s not even start counting how many back-from-the-dead entrances Marlena Evans Black (Deidre Hall), and her two husbands, John Black (Drake Hogysten) and Roman Brady (Josh Taylor), have experienced.

DAYS: My Old Man

And then there’s Chad’s daddy, Stefano DiMera (Joseph Mascolo). The Phoenix himself. Chad knows what his dad did. Over and over and over again. So why is he even thinking about telling Thomas and Charlotte that Mommy is dead, when he has to know this is a temporary condition. She is a DiMera now, after all, in addition to being a Horton and a Deveraux. It’s her birthright.
