A jury of his peers sent Ben Weston to prison on Days of our Lives. And while it’s not looking good for him, he’s got a strong ally in his girlfriend Ciara Brady. She knows Ben has killed other people, but she’s convinced this time he’s innocent.
Days of our Lives Bad Boy
Why does Ciara (Victoria Konefal) think Ben (Robert Scott Wilson) isn’t guilty of killing his sister Jordan (Chrishell Stause)?
“She just trusts him,” Konefal tells TV Insider.”Even though the evidence is stacked against him. She could easily believe what everyone else is saying but her faith in him is so strong and has been for so long that it won’t shatter.
“Also, when she found Ben in the cabin with Jordan’s corpse, she saw that he was devastated,” the actress adds. “She helped him come back to earth. Robert did such an incredible job with those scenes. Ciara was desperate to bring him back to reality. She wants him to know she has full faith in him. That’s not going to waiver.”
But what about the deaths that Ben is responsible for? As the Necktie Killer, he murdered Serena Mason (Melissa Archer), Paige Larson (True O’Brien), Wendy Taylor (Denice Duff), and Will Horton (Chandler Massey). However, Will was brought back to life, courtesy of Dr. Rolf (Will Utay).
Ben and Ciara’s Appeal
The show could always tweak history and re-write things so that Ben wasn’t the Necktie Killer, but Konefal thinks the way things have unfolded is just fine.
“I’ve seen that [bandied about] a few times on Twitter,” Konefal says of the idea that the writers make Ben not be a killer. “Personally, I think it’d be pointless [to rewrite Ben’s history as a killer]. A lot of the appeal in Ben and Ciara comes from that he’s a bad boy and that his and Ciara’s love, in a way, is forbidden.
“Ciara vouching for him is where their love stems from. She’s fought for him. If he hadn’t killed all those people, then, maybe, that would have been for nothing?” Days of our Lives airs weekdays on NBC. Check local listings for air times.
