New lovers connected, estranged duos reconciled, and some couples continued their long-standing relationships on Days of Our Lives in 2017.

As always, the year was definitely a mix of happiness and heartache when it came to romance. But, in the end, there were several Salem pairs who enjoyed some blissful and unforgettable moments. Who is the favorite couple of 2017? Some 5,500 of you shared your thoughts, and here’s what you had to say.

John and Marlena
Salem vets John (Drake Hogestyn) and Marlena (Deidre Hall) received 5% of your votes. You still adore this tried-and-true duo, who came together some 30 years ago and are still absolutely devoted to one another.

Steve and Kayla
Some 13% of fans like Steve (Stephen Nichols) and Kayla (Mary Beth Evans) best. They weathered Joey (James Lastovic) going to prison and Tripp’s (Lucas Adams) arrival into their lives and have come out stronger for it.

Chad and Abby
The overwhelming majority, 49% of you, adore Chad (Billy Flynn) and Abby (Marci Miller). Having the pair find their way back to one another and remarrying was your dream come true.

Eric and Nicole
Watching former flames Eric (Greg Vaughn) and Nicole (Arianne Zucker) profess their love and share one passionate night together thrilled 20% of you. Yes, it was short but oh-so-sweet.

JJ and Lani
The police station romance between JJ (Casey Moss) and Lani (Sal Stowers) captivated 2% of fans. They’re a perfect match in your book, and you’re relieved that they seem to be back on track.

Abe and Valerie
Seeing Abe (James Reynolds) find love again made 1% of you very happy. He’d been alone for years since Lexie’s death, and Valerie (Vanessa Williams) is the perfect woman for him.

Theo and Claire
The young love story of Theo (Kyler Pettis) and Claire (Olivia Rose Keegan) drew in 1% of you. While their match up initially surprised you, you’ve become a big supporter of the quirky twosome.

Rafe and Hope
Some 7% of fans enjoyed watching the progression of Rafe (Galen Gering) and Hope’s (Kristian Alfonso) relationship — particularly, the moment when they became engaged. You’re just hoping Rafe’s tryst with Sami (Alison Sweeney) doesn’t end up costing them their happiness.
