Stefano has been missing from Days of our Lives for close to a decade now, but his absence is still sorely felt. He left a power vacuum that has yet to be filled. And we miss it.
Days of our Lives — Never Again
Here’s who over 2,000 fans believe could step into his shoes. It wasn’t even close as a majority 67% of the audience insisted there’s no need. Stefano (Joseph Mascolo) was one of a kind, and no one ever could replace him. Plus, let’s remember, he was a very bad man. A very bad man who hurt a lot of people. Why would we ever want to see another villain like him?
Like Father, Like Son
EJ, duh, 27% of you point out the obvious. Sure, Stefano had a whole bunch of kids over the years. But Tony (Thaao Penghlis) has made it clear he’s not interested in the job. And Chad (Billy Flynn) is just too damn nice to live up to the family name. EJ is the only one who has both the desire – and the ruthlessness to be the new Stefano. Which is why he should be.
Girl Power on Days of our Lives
Only 5% of viewers voted for Kristen DiMera (Stacy Haiduk). It’s not that they don’t think a woman is fit to take over the DiMera empire. It’s that they don’t think a crazy cuckoo woman should. To run an evil conglomerate, you need to keep cool and scheme on. Kristen doesn’t know the meaning of cool. The minute she has a thought, she acts. And people end up dead. But not in a fun, Stefano-like way.
The Other Baddie
Even fewer voters, a little over 1%, remember Orpheus (George DelHoyo) enough to believe he could be the new Stefano. Sure, he’s obsessed with Marlena (Deidre Hall), mean to his kids, and has a tendency to rise from the dead. But he’s, at best, a pretender to the throne.
