They say a picture is worth a thousand words, but we wonder what good is a picture when you can’t recognize the subject? Above is a snapshot of a future star of soaps but can you guess who this loaded-down little darling grew up to be?
Obviously this young woman (now all grown up) is either currently starring on, or is an alum of, one of the four remaining daytime dramas – The Bold and the Beautiful, Days of our Lives, General Hospital, and The Young and the Restless – but that’s probably not enough of a hint
So try these on for size. She is a Daytime Emmy Award-nominated performer who has been associated with the soap opera genre for over 25 years. She began her acting career at the age of 5 and she spent eight years hosting a reality show competition. She is also a published authoress.
But just who can she be? Is this a photograph of Ashley Jones (ex-Bridget Forrester, BB), Alison Sweeney (Sami Brady, DAYS), Kirsten Storms (Maxie Jones, GH), or Sharon Case (Sharon Collins Newman, YR)?
Jones was 5 years old when she appeared in her first commercial and the year 1997 marked her entry into the soap world. She spent three years playing YR’s Megan Dennison (which resulted in her receiving two Daytime Emmy Award nominations) and she later joined the cast of fellow CBS serial BB.
She has played Bridget Forrester on that program (on-and-off) since December 2004. And she has also played a character on ABC’s General Hospital (ex-Parker Forsyth). But she has not quite reached the (over) 25-year marker set by today’s featured star, nor the other hints.
Storms was but a wee one when she filmed her first commercial – for Galoob Baby Doll. She entered the daytime arena in August 1999 when she assumed the role of DAYS’ Belle Black. She subsequently joined the cast of GH (debuting May 23, 2005) where she has remained ever since.
And though Storms is a Daytime Emmy Award nominee with experience where reality TV is concerned, she was a cast member of E!’s Dirty Soap, not a host of a competition series. And she hasn’t yet to put pen to paper and produced prose.
No, Case is not today’s mystery child. This is in spite of the fact that she has been working steadily in daytime since 1989 (when she was hired to play GH’s Dawn Winthrop), as well as her status as a Daytime Emmy Award-nominated (and a win in 1999) actress.
Sweeney made her television debut at the age of 5 in a Kodak advertisement, and she would go on to play Sami Brady on DAYS from 1993 to 2014 (with multiple reprisals since October of 2015).
Between 2007 and 2015, Sweeney served as host of the weight loss competition show The Biggest Loser, and since 2004, she has written four books. One autobiographical – All The Days of My Life (So Far) – and three works of fiction.
So, if you guessed that perhaps the future star of soaps seen in the image above was Alison Sweeney, then you were absolutely correct!
