It looks like Stefano DiMera is returning to Days of Our Lives–or make that Stefan O. DiMera, his son with a VERY similar name.
Of course, Stefano has children out there we never heard of or this wouldn’t be Days of Our Lives. For three decades, Stefano had been the most fertile man in daytime, so you’d have to know there are more long-lost kids floating around, and this one will be played by none other than Tyler Christopher.
When the actor arrives in Salem next week, his character name will have so much meaning. First, Stefan was the name of his previous character’s uncle on General Hospital and the actor who played Stefan–Stephen Nichols–is again on DAYS.
Second, making the character’s middle initial ‘O’ is just pure genius because when there’s no way to bring the original Stefano back (due to the tragic passing of Joseph Mascolo), why not bring on another Stefano, but make him a Stefan O. There will never be another Stefano, but there can be a new generation with a play on the same name.
According to published reports, Stefan will step into Stefano’s shoes as well as Chad’s house. He has enough competition and contentions with his brother, Andre, around, so having yet another brother is bound to interrupt Chad’s life.
It looks like Stefan’s arrival will also coincide with Louise Sorel’s return to the soap as Vivian Alamain. Do they arrive together and know one another from European travels? Vivian would certainly be happy to scheme and pull off some hare-brained scheme with a DiMera, wouldn’t she? Tune in to find out.
