Welcome Back, Jack: Jennifer Rose Lets Her Hair Down On Days of Our Lives

And… the countdown begins. After two guest appearances as Jack’s spirit and six months back on the Days of Our Lives set, Matthew Ashford appears onscreen as a very much alive Jack Deveraux this week.

Let’s just say it couldn’t come a moment too soon for a lonely Jennifer who’s been unlucky in love and life since Jack allegedly perished in an elevator accident back in 2012.

We’ve often wondered what happened to feisty and fun Jennifer, who has seemed more like a victim and a matriarch over the past six years. Yes, she is a grandmother, but Marlena is a great-grandmother and still manages to let her hair down and have a semi-successful love life.

Perhaps it’s because she always ends up back with the one she was meant to be with — and that is about to happen for Jennifer. Well, at least it’s about to start because of course Jack doesn’t actually remember her.

Soap Hub has also decided it’s all in the hair. Over the last few years, we’ve noticed that Jennifer has been channeling her grandmother, Alice Horton.

(And even Alice had more fun than Jennifer when she was a senior citizen baking poison donuts and riding a streetcar named desire all over New Orleans).

Sure, she lives in Alice and Tom’s house, but has Jennifer really needed Alice Horton’s signature chignon more often than not? Maybe. After all, she’s been without Jack.

This writer fell in love with Jack and Jennifer as a senior in high school when they first started sparring at The Spectator. So, this return is as welcome as any Salem happening in recent years.

Thanks to DAYS’ six-month-ahead taping schedule, social media has given us a preview of what we can expect. On-set pics that were never supposed to end up on Twitter (and were quickly deleted) always show Jennifer with her hair down and a wardrobe with more ‘kick’ to it.

And the new DAYS app (which can be found in the Apple App Store or on Google Play) has given us the best sneak peek ever, with an on-set video of Melissa Reeves and Ashford showing their playful side as they play a game of who knows Jack and Jen best.

So, welcome back Jack Deveraux…and welcome back to Jennifer, too.
