In all the years Tamara Braun has been on daytime, none of her characters have ever had a dog, and that’s a shame because the veteran soap star truly has a way with animals. It’s a sure bet that her current role, Ava Vitali on Days of our Lives, could certainly benefit from the unconditional love a dog gives — something Braun knows a lot about.
Tamara Braun Honors Her Pup on Gotcha Day
The Daytime Emmy-winning actress, whose resume includes both Carly and Kim on General Hospital and Reese on All My Children, is devoted to her two dogs and treats them like the family they are. In honor of Gotcha Day, the anniversary of when a dog joins a family by adoption, Braun took to social media to celebrate the special day with her dog, Pearl.
“We were just going to foster her but Little started rolling around and playing with her at about week 2,” she explained in the Instagram post, referencing her other dog. “They were in love. So, she became family.”
Braun also revealed that she’s been fostering another “sweet baby” recently, though she feels three dogs might be too much on a full-time basis, so she urges others to reach out and adopt so dogs like this can find a full-time home.

The actress is never shy about providing her pets with a little social media love. In fact, her last couple of posts were devoted to her dogs, with one honoring her “son” Little on National Son’s Day, and another calling out Pearl for National Daughter’s Day.
In fact, Little received his own Gotcha Day Instagram greeting back in June, when Braun commemorated the day she rescued the cute pup. “You fill my life with joy,” the actress wrote then. “Thank you for finding me.”
In Salem, Ava could use some of that unconditional love of a good dog now. After finally finding some love with Rafe (Galen Gering), she can’t leave well enough alone and is teaming and scheming with Philip to get retribution against Rafe’s annoying sister, Gabi! Surely, he’s not going to be too pleased that she colluded against his sister if that ever comes to light.
