It was a grueling episode as Abby played Stefan on Days of Our Lives, and now actor Tyler Christopher addresses fan feedback about it.
In the scenes that took place at Bayview, a desperate Abby (Kate Mansi) realized that her only hope of being released is to convince Stefan (Tyler Christopher) that she’s now Gabby and not Abby.
While Stefan is the villain in this story, in these scenes Christopher played his quiet desperation, because at the heart of Stefan is a man yearning for a family. He knew love for the first time with Gabby, but he knows she’s gone.
He even got Gabi (Camila Banus) to admit that Abby hasn’t split again; that she’s been gaslighting her.
So in his brain, he knew that even though Abby is saying she’s Gabby, she can’t really be her. But his heart was desperate to have her back. You can see him fighting her, knowing she has to be playing him but yet he so desperately wanted to believe her to be his true love.
The scenes were riveting and apparently, fans were letting the actor know their admiration in droves. So he took to Twitter to thank them.
“Thank u all for the kind words regarding mondays episode. I completely put my trust in the words on the page. What I do is really not that innovative. Thank @carlivatiron. He’s the one who put it in front of me. And @katemansi is the one who pulled it out. #daysofourlives #dool”
Mansi soon responded with, “It didn’t take all that much heavy lifting on my part friend.”
Considering the obstacles they had before them — that these were very early in Mansi’s return and it was their first scenes together — it makes what transpired onscreen even more amazing. Kudos to both actors on pulling off such challenging scenes.
Days of our Lives (DOOL) airs weekdays on NBC. Check your local listings for airtimes.
