The afternoon of Saturday, August 29th, 2020 saw the debut of a brand-new event in the soap opera world: The first annual Soap Hub Awards was broadcast live on YouTube! More than 250,000 Soap Hub Fans from across the world made their voices heard as they voted for their favorite performers in a number of categories. Those categories were as follows:
Favorite Actor and Actress from The Bold and the Beautiful
Favorite Actor and Actress from Days of our Lives
Favorite Actor and Actress from General Hospital
Favorite Actor and Actress from The Young and the Restless
Favorite Young Actor and Actress
Favorite Social Media Star
Favorite Soap Opera
The editorial team also gave out a very special Editors’ Choice Award, which was given to Genie Francis for her immeasurable contributions to the daytime drama canvas.
After introducing Soap Hub Awards, Soap Hub Director of Content Development Shadolene Saeyang turned the floor over to B&B superfan Matt Hanvey, who started things off by announcing the first category. Later on, Soap Hub Insider Cheryl Beutehart captured the spotlight with her own presentation, and a great time was had by all.
While the soap operas and their performers were the main focus, there were also a few surprises in store for fans! Anyone who RSVP’d was automatically entered in a prize drawing, and several additional contests and giveaways took place throughout the show. A few special offers wrapped things up, and the trophies themselves – each one a uniquely engraved, crystalline sculpture – were sent out to each of the winners.
This inaugural broadcast was the first in what is sure to become a long-running tradition… and the entire Soap Hub team is already looking forward to 2021! Be sure to watch the embedded video above to watch the festivities!
