Exclusive: Eric Martsolf Reveals Brady and Theresa Storyline!

Fearful of the danger Mateo poses to Brady and Tate and desperate to keep them safe, Theresa begins pushing the two people she loves most in the world away from her on Days of Our Lives.

The stunning story turn, which will ultimately set up Theresa’s tearful exit, is being precipitated by actress Jen Lilley’s decision to leaves the show.

“Theresa has to create a facade that she’s done being a mother to Tate, she’s done being a wife to Brady, and she’s going back to her old ways,” explains Eric Martsolf (Brady), referring to Theresa’s wild child past and drug use. “She tries to convince Brady that she’s no longer interested in this domestic bliss that they’ve been trying to build together.”

Revisiting an Imperfect Past
The about-face stuns Brady, although he’s always realized it was a possibility. “In the back of his mind, just as he’s struggled with his demons, he knows how fragile addiction can be. You can fall back into it at the drop of a hat. It’s just that the timing seems to be so insane given his and Theresa’s newfound happiness. Their son was kidnapped, and they found him.

They just exchanged vows together… They were completely ready to start this new life and then she throws this bomb at him with this complete change of behavior.”

It begins when Brady makes a disturbing discovery about Theresa. He finds her with Mateo and the scene he walks in on “doesn’t look good. They’re not sitting around knitting and drinking orange juice together,” delivers Martsolf with a laugh.

“In Theresa’s attempt to create this scenario, she actually puts herself in a very compromising position with Mateo. Drug use also comes into play. Brady has reason to believe Theresa has gone back to her wicked ways and is using substances again.”

Explosive Confrontation
Brady reacts immediately, calling out Theresa on what’s going on. “It’s very much a gut instinct,” says Martsolf. “Brady’s always shot from the hip. If he feels it, he’s going to say it. That’s just…continue reading on the next page —>

Explosive Confrontation
Brady reacts immediately, calling out Theresa on what’s going on. “It’s very much a gut instinct,” says Martsolf. “Brady’s always shot from the hip. If he feels it, he’s going to say it. That’s just the kind of the man he is. It’s an explosive turn of events, and it comes out of nowhere for him. It’s at a time when things are so happy, and then everything is destroyed right in front of him.”

Martsolf praises Jen Lilley’s performance in the scenes. “Jen does such a great job of portraying Theresa as the old Theresa, that it’s very believable. She throws Brady into a tailspin. She recreates every nightmare that he could have possibly imagined. Everything that could have gone wrong between them, and the thing that they’ve always feared being the addicts that they are, comes to fruition right in Brady’s face. It’s very sad what Theresa has to do, what she’s being forced to do… It’s pretty heart wrenching.”

Over and Done
The message Theresa delivers is devastatingly clear. “It’s a message of boredom and complete unfeeling,” explains Martsolf. “The worse part about it is that she appears to be numb. That’s almost worse than being passionate about wanting to leave somebody, that knowledge that the other person couldn’t care less. Brady’s just staring at these blank eyes that want noting to do with him anymore or their family. It’s disturbing.”

When it’s all over and done, Martsolf says that Brady “is going to take quite a fall,” and he’ll be down and out, yet again. “That’s what we do in soap opera. We build it up, so we can break it down.”

In the past, Brady has turned to drugs and alcohol himself in times of trouble. However, this time around the situation is quite different. Namely, he has son, Tate, to consider.

“That’s an interesting prospective,” muses Martsolf. “This is the first time Brady doesn’t just have to deal with himself and his feelings. He has to deal with another person in the mix, his child. The fact that he has a child will greatly facilitate the turn of events, after this whole catastrophe takes place.”
