When Tyler Christopher’s Days of Our Lives (DOOL) casting came to light several weeks ago, it was thanks to a behind-the-scenes video in which he was standing next to Louise Sorel.
Sorel, as longtime DAYS fans know, plays the one and only Vivian Alamain and is returning to the soap later this year. Soap Hub guessed that somehow Christopher’s mystery character would be involved with Vivian and it looks like we were right.
However, that doesn’t mean we know who he will play. While we thought he could be Viv’s nephew, Nicholas, it turns out new head writer, Ron Carlivati, created a brand-new role for the actor.
In an interview with Soap Opera Digest, Carlivati revealed that Christopher’s character will make a memorable new year appearance.
“The fans that know [Christopher] as Nikolas [and] know somewhat what to expect, and he’s a talented actor. He brings a certain gravitas with him, and he was the perfect fit for what I wanted to do with this story,” the writer said.
“I always think of New Year’s Eve as a great time to have something big happen at midnight, so that is kind of a key to the return of Vivian and the entrance of Tyler, and I am wanting it to remain somewhat of a mystery for now of who he will be. But he is the first new character I have created here.”
Okay, so is he an Alamain or not? Perhaps he is even related to Ivan, Viv’s devoted man-servant and partner in crime who loved his Madame so much. What do you think? Are you ready for a new Alamain in Salem?
