The last time viewers saw Tony and Anna on Days of our Lives, they were living in Europe. Now comes word that their portrayers, Thaao Penghlis and Leann Hunley, are heading back to Salem next month.
Thaao Penghlis and Leann Hunley Return
While there have been reports of the two actors “leaving” the show and then “coming back,” it’s pretty much how the NBC soap rolls now with actors who have roles that don’t warrant them having contracts (meaning they need to guarantee that the actors have to report to the set because of heavy storylines). Still, it’s nice when actors let fans know and that’s what has happened here.
DAYS has no greater cheerleader than Thaao Penghlis, who obviously loves the show whether he is appearing on it currently or not and also loves to celebrate the incredible bond he shares with many of the vets, including his longtime co-star Hunley. He did so recently with a post to social media that also let us know of an upcoming visit.
“For over 30 yrs a closeness developed out of trust & certainly ❤️ love. We’re back in March. Thank u all for the support. #love #romance #Days #NBC #magic #resonate #kindness #vets #compassion #life #survivors,” he wrote alongside a beautiful picture of himself with Hunley.
The news was well-received by more than just fans of the show. In the posting on Instagram, he received many supportive comments — including one from longtime friend and co-star, Deidre Hall (Marlena/Hattie), who wrote, “Can’t wait!!!” DAYS co-executive producer Greg Meng added, “Beautiful.”
So what will Tony and Anna be up to in Salem? Chances are as long as they are still madly in love and engaging in witty repartee, their legion of fans will be thrilled. Of course, adding in some interactions with other faves like his brother Chad (Billy Flynn) and wife Abby (Kate Mansi) or either of Hall’s characters and it will be even better. Stay tuned. Days of our Lives (DOOL) airs weekdays on NBC. Check your local listings for airtimes.
