Stefan and Gabi have finally crossed the line and taken their mutual hatred of each other on Days of Our Lives into the bedroom. While we’re sure it was surprisingly good for them both, here’s hoping the show keeps it on this level — and doesn’t try to turn this union into something more.
After all, this is an act of ultimate revenge on Gabi’s (Camila Banus) part for what Stefan (Brandan Barash) so ruthlessly did to her in the past when he set her up to take the fall for Abigail murdering his brother, Andre.
That time in prison is what created this cruel version of Gabi — and she needs to stay this way.
To have the guy who is responsible for turning her into a badass and someone capable of such hurtful things be the same person who one night in bed makes her turn to mush and full of love would be a huge mistake.
It’s not like it’s set in stone that this is what’s going to happen — it’s just not our first time at the soap rodeo.
There have been plenty of couples who started off on such bad footing but then suddenly that one night of sex changes everything bad into unicorns and rainbows and that’s not how life works — or at least it shouldn’t be.
Stefan did some really horrible things to Gabi, treating her like she wasn’t worth any human kindness or consideration.
Sure, we can lock that away in our minds because it was Tyler Christopher’s version of the character, but it still counts! Gabi almost died in prison and it has taken her months to earn back her daughter’s trust since Ari didn’t understand why her mother disappeared from her life. Gabi’s turn, while heartbreaking, has been justified — she’s no one’s doormat any more!
So, that’s why we need her to stay strong and continue down her path to eventual redemption. But, it shouldn’t be Stefan who gets her there. (Let’s not forget his little kidnap, tie to a chair, and torture episode.)
This is a fun little detour but please keep Gabi squarely on her stated mission and not allow a good night of sex to change her mind.
