Days of our Lives spoilers for Friday, July 4 celebrate Independence Day with EJ swearing that he’ll help Johnny go free, while Belle vows to follow the law, and Brady and Kristen turn to Marlena for Rachel’s liberty.

Johnny (Carson Boatman) has been arrested for trying to kill EJ (Dan Feuerriegel). EJ says Johnny didn’t do it. Jada (Elia Cantu) says, “I don’t care, I’m arresting him anyway.” EJ has stepped up to defend his son. He convinced Johnny and Chanel (Raven Bowens) that would look good for the jury.
And EJ’s got even more tricks up his sleeve. Will Johnny listen, though? Will Chanel? She has her own ideas of what should be done, which she shares with Abe (James Reynolds). And Chanel is used to getting her way. Even when Mama refuses to pull strings and get Johnny off a murder rap — like she did for Chanel back in the day.

Paulina (Jackée Harry) becoming mayor has suddenly made her more aware of the nuances in the legal system. (Though that didn’t stop her from stealing a snowplow in the name of going off into a storm to rescue her precious baby.)
Well, at least as it applies to other people. Paulina is worried that Belle (Martha Madison) won’t be objective with the Johnny/EJ case. Belle promises she will be. We believe Belle more than Paulina.

But enough about Johnny. Brady (Eric Martsolf) and Kristen (Stacy Haiduk) are much more concerned that Rachel (Alice Halsey) might need to testify against Johnny. And that might make her uncomfortable. Nothing should ever make Rachel uncomfortable.
They turn to Marlena (Deidre Hall) for help. She already told them she can’t counsel a family member. But, but, but… Rachel! Why can’t Marlena be more like Paulina — and EJ!
