For the week of July 15 – July 19 on Days of Our Lives, spoilers focus on a dramatic double wedding, heartbreaking moments, and a potentially healing conversation that is long overdue.
For some reason, Bonnie (Judi Evans — who’s celebrating a birthday) and Maggie (Suzanne Rogers) have been pushing for a double wedding for Xander (Paul Telfer)/Sarah (Linsey Godfrey) and Alex (Robert Patrick Wilson)/Theresa (Emily O’Brien). Not sure why considering 1) The couples don’t hang out together. 2) The couples don’t like each other. 3) Double weddings in Salem rarely go smoothly. Well, any wedding in Salem ever goes smoothly.
Nevertheless, the double wedding begins. There’s bound to be trouble. In fact, there are several different ways this can all go wrong. First, Theresa’s gold-digging ways are outed, and Xander discovers he’s Victor’s (John Aniston) son and true heir. Second, Xander’s mother shows up, she still has drinking issues, and she makes a scene. Brady (Eric Martsolf) decides he really does want to be with Theresa and interrupts the wedding during the “if anyone here wants to object” part of the ceremony. What are we missing? Any other ways this double wedding can go disastrously wrong?
Before the double wedding begins, Alex and Justin’s shaky relationship takes front and center. Since Alex found out he’s Victor’s son, he has treated Justin like crap. He’s ice cold. in their interactions. He calls him “Justin” even though his whole life he called him “dad.” He acts like the two barely have a history.
This week, Justin (Wally Kurth — who finds the joy in “June Gloom”) rises above it all and surprises Alex with a kind gesture. What does he do for his son? After all, his and Alex’s shattered relationship has been breaking his heart. Unfortunately, things remain okay between the men for a second. Because towards the end of the week, Justin and Alex have words. Let’s see how Alex feels about Justin once he finds out he’s not Victor’s son, huh?
Are Abe (James Reynolds) and Kate (Lauren Koslow) really resurrecting Body and Soul? If anything, this production will bring new jobs and eyes to Salem. Thankfully, Paulina (Jackée Harry) is supportive of Abe’s new business venture. Which is good, because Abe has been nothing but supportive of his wife.
Meanwhile, Tate (Leo Howard) and Holly’s hot couple summer hits a snag when Holly’s “friend” Sophia (Madelyn Kientz) threatens to end their summer plans. Apparently, she’s still a little bitter over what went down at Prom. You know, the whole Tate and Holly (Ashley Puzemis) using her so they can spend time together at the dance. What will Sophia do? Will she out the fact that Tate’s not at Lacrosse camp?
Finally, Nicole (Arianne Zucker — who addresses her upcoming exit here) and Eric (Greg Vaughan) have a heart-to-heart talk about their past and their future. What we want to know is about their present. What do they conclude? Will they realize that all that they’ve been through over the last 25 years plus means they should ultimately get back together for good?
