Big returns and familiar faces arrive in Salem for Doug’s (the late Bill Hayes) funeral, starting with Julie’s brother Steve (Stephen Schnetzer), who surprises Julie (Susan Seaforth Hayes) at the Horton House.
Ciara (Victoria Konefal) and Shawn (Brandon Beemer) are also back to say goodbye to their grandfather, and Shawn will pay an unexpected visit to Belle (Martha Madison) at Marlena’s (Deidre Hall).

Everyone will gather for the funeral where Ciara speaks and Julie will say a heartbreaking goodbye to her husband.
Afterward, as Kayla Mary Beth Evans), Roman (Josh Taylor), Steve (Stephen Nichols), and Jack (Matthew Ashford) raise a glass to their friend and Eli (Lamon Archey), Lani (Sal Stowers), Abe (James Reynolds), and Paulina (Jackée Harry) do the same, Maggie (Suzanne Rogers) will have a surprise encounter with Marie (Maree Cheatham) and Liz (Gloria Loring) in the square. Liz will also pay Marlena a visit and look fondly at a photo of her and John (the late Drake Hogestyn).
