Days of our Lives spoilers for Friday, November 27, show waves of grief radiating through Salem as the entire community deals with Doug Williams’s passing.
The Man I Love
Julie (Susan Seaforth Hayes) and Doug (Bill Hayes) have been through all the soap opera supercouple things together. They both have checkered pasts. They’ve both been presumed dead. They’ve cheated on each other, had children with other people, broken up over silly pride and misunderstandings, and sung many, many show tunes.
If we’re lucky, we’ll get to see Julie relive all of those memorable moments via flashbacks. But, even if we don’t see it all, we will know Julie is mourning every single one of them.

From Generation to Generation
Doug’s daughter, Hope (Kristian Alfonso), is also Julie’s half-sister (don’t ask; yes, Doug married a mother and daughter), so there is a lot of grief to go around. She comes home to Salem along with her son, Shawn (Brandon Beemer), and they both also reminisce about the man they love.
Doug was always there for his little girl—even when she was a little hellion—and Hope employed everything she learned from Doug when parenting Shawn. Even if Shawn wasn’t always the best-behaved child, we’re hoping for flashbacks there, too. And it doesn’t matter that multiple actors have played both Hope and Shawn (as children and as adults). We’re soap fans. We’ll deal with it.
News Bulletin
Marlena (Deidre Hall) has been in Salem almost as long as Doug has. She will miss him, too.
But at the moment, Marlena has worries of her own, including her missing husband. Marlena has news about John (Drake Hogysten) for Kayla (Mary Beth Evans). Is there another tragedy on the horizon? How much can these intertwined families take? There’s drama, and there’s despair.
