Talking to a teddy bear may seem like an adorable little quirk at first, but DAYS spoilers suggest it is just the tip of the iceberg. We think Rafe’s little talk with Duke hints at a much bigger problem for Salem’s top cop.

Okay, okay, hear us out. Some fans strongly believe Rafe Hernandez (Galen Gering) is just fine, thanks. Heck, even Ava Vitali (Tamara Braun) thought it was adorable. We don’t think he’s okay at all. We think Rafe is headed towards a breakdown and it’s about darn time.

What will this lapse of stability look like with someone like Rafe? Duke will play a pretty big part in it. One innocent conversation already turned into an argument with a stuffed animal and that’s not good. Not good at all.

We can see it coming that Rafe leans more and more on his stuffy friend and it turns into quite a tumultuous friendship. Duke represents Rafe’s pent-up dark side and pushes him to do some very, very bad things.

DAYS spoilers tease Rafe can’t get Nicole Walker Brady (Arianne Zucker) out of his mind. He even thinks of her when he’s in bed with Ava. Rafe is becoming obsessive and sharing custody of Duke isn’t going to make it easier. In fact, it will make it worse.

Duke ends up directing Rafe to do the unthinkable – take Nicole for himself. He stalks her night and day until he gets the chance to whisk her away (probably to the burned-out cabin). This loss of control is terrifying and who knows how low it will go. Poor Nicole will barely escape with her life.

But don’t worry, soap fans, he is not truly evil to the core. He’ll be diagnosed with a sickness, a brain tumor, or maybe even a mental illness and all will be forgiven. A surgery or some medications (or both) and Rafe will be back to his old self and his old ways.
