DAYS spoilers have taught us that nothing happens for no reason. Or, at least, we’d like to think so. We’d like to think the writers know where their stories are going. Which is why we’ve been keeping very close attention on Sloan’s trajectory since she got to Salem.

For close to a decade, Melinda (Tina Huang) was the most hated lawyer in Salem. Everyone piled on her, calling her evil and a terrible person for doing her job and prosecuting the guilty. But since Sloan came to town, she’s the new pariah. Everyone piles on her, calling her evil and a terrible person for doing her job and defending people who turn out to be innocent – even when the good people don’t want them to be.
DAYS Spoilers: Passing the Torch
We really got the sense that Sloan is the new Melinda when even Melinda turned against her. Melinda hates Sloan so much that she wants Abe (James Reynolds) to fire Rafe (Galen Gering) as police chief because he refuses to arrest Sloan for poisoning the biscuits that made Melinda sick, simply because he has no evidence to prove it! The nerve! Melinda thinks anyone would be a better police chief than Rafe. Even Paulina (Jackée Harry)!

DOOL: Final Twist
But the thing that really convinced her that Sloan is about to be a Melinda rerun is the arrival of Colin. Remember when Melinda’s sister came to town? But she turned out to be Melinda’s daughter. And Haley’s (Thia Megia) death sent Melinda on a rampage to punish Kristen (Stacy Haiduk), the woman who killed her.
Why did Sloan, who looks only a few years older than her brother, make a point of telling Eric (Greg Vaughan) that there was a huge age difference between them and that Colin was still a toddler while Sloan was in high school?
Is Sloan being set up as Colin’s mother? So that when he’s (possibly) killed by Paulina – just like Sloan’s mother was killed by Chanel – it will give her even more of a reason to hate the Price/Dupree family? It sure is looking that way. Right, Melinda?
