He lost that chance when Jada (Elia Cantu) had an abortion. And he even lost the chance to be Holly’s stepfather when he and Nicole split up. But does Eric (Greg Vaughan) realize he has more options than that?

Is there a reason Eric can’t adopt? Stefano (Joseph Moscolo) was the most fertile man who ever lived, and he still found time to adopt some kids, too. Shawn and Caroline Brady, Eric’s grandparents, adopted a pair of (they thought) orphaned brothers, Frankie and Max. (Don’t ask what the real story turned out to be…it’s better in the original.)
Justin (Wally Kurth) and Adrienne (Judi Evans) adopted a set of newborn twins, and Adrienne pretty much raised Alex (Robert Scott Wilson). Marlena loves Carrie (Christie Clark) like she is her own, and the same went for Mickey and Sarah (Linsey Godfrey). The point is: Adoption is not a foreign concept in Salem.

And if Eric doesn’t feel prepared to deal with a newborn as a single dad, why not an older teen? Maybe someone in foster care who desperately could use a home and a loving parent? Why not a high-school kid like Frankie Brady once was?

Not only will Eric get the chance to be a dad and a needy kid get a home, but also we DAYS watchers get a potentially cool new character. The show is desperate for a teen set. We’ll even give you a potential pairing: Sydney DiMera returns to Salem. Can you imagine EJ’s daughter dating Eric’s son? With Nicole (Arianne Zucker) in the middle? What’s stopping them?
