Days of our Lives spoilers don’t show any immediate drama for newlyweds Lani and Eli but marriage on soaps means only one thing. Well, OK, two things.
The first is a much-hoped-for ratings bump. The second is that, once the vows are exchanged, the countdown clock begins for who will cheat on whom, first.
Lani (Sal Stowers) and Eli (Lamon Archey) are even more prime candidates for this trope than most. Why? Oh, let us count the ways.
First and foremost, this couple first got together when they thought their significant others, JJ (Casey Moss) and Gabi (Camila Banus), were cheating on them. Did they ask JJ or Gabi? No. They just jumped into bed together.
Then, when Lani got pregnant, she lied to JJ that the baby was his, and Eli lied to Gabi that the baby wasn’t his. So, to summarize: Neither has trouble with lying, jumping to conclusions, and using sex as a revenge tactic. A match made in heaven!
The first time Lani and Eli were going to get married, Gabi blackmailed Lani into dumping Eli at the altar. Did Lani tell the man she loved what was going on? Did she trust him to help her work through her crises?
No, she did as she was told and ran off to become a nun, opting to take advice from Kristen (Stacy Haiduk), a woman whose moral compass isn’t just broken, it’s been stomped on and run over by a steam roller. And yet Lani calls her a friend, and let her go when Kristen stabbed Victor (John Aniston).
So we’ve got trust and morality out of the way. Now the only question is who will either cheat with? For Eli, we’re going with… oh, what the hell, Gabi again. He’s always fallen for her tricks before, why wouldn’t he again?
And for Lani, let’s say… Brady (Eric Martsolf). They can bond over the missing Kristen. Days of our Lives (DOOL) airs weekdays on NBC. Check your local listings for airtimes.
