Days of Our Lives spoilers (DOOL) for Wednesday, January 17 promise a day filled with a tearful goodbye and one shocking return!

Theo (Kyler Pettis) says his goodbyes before leaving for South Africa for a year, which feels like forever for much of Salem. Some of the most important people in his life gather to see him off, including Ciara (Victoria Konefal), Claire (Olivia Rose Keegan), and JJ (Casey Moss).

By the end of the goodbye, nearly everyone is in tears thinking about the next 365 days without the guy they all know and love. That time should fly by, and if all goes as planned, he’ll return on his own two feet.

Meanwhile, Lani (Sal Stowers) gets a shocking return! Eli (Lamon Archey), regretfully returns her missing earring. She probably never expected to see that again. Surely nobody will see what’s going on and put two and two together…
