While Sonny’s future — both romantic and professional — seems to be on shaky ground, Freddie Smith’s is flying high.
That’s because the popular actor has signed a new deal with Days of Our Lives (DOOL) that will keep him Salem for another year, according to Soaps In Depth. In fact, viewers will be seeing Sonny on air until at least the summer of 2019.
This is great news for WilSon and PaulSon fans, though which man Sonny ends up with (if either) remains to be seen. In the meantime, the character is about to have his world dealt a huge blow as he realizes Leo (Greg Rikaart) isn’t the great guy he thought he was.
In fact, Leo is bad news, first having his strings pulled by Vivian (Louise Sorel) and now by Kate (Lauren Koslow). On the upside, it should give Smith, the 2015 Outstanding Younger Actor in a Drama Series Emmy winner, some meaty material.
The actor has certainly been busy building up his other interests. He, along with co-stars Chandler Massey (Will) and Christopher Sean (Paul), have been posting videos to Instagram Stories that they call Dressing Room Sessions where they “bust in” to each other’s dressing room and hilarity ensues.
Smith also has a show he does with his girlfriend, Aalyssa Tabit, called The Freddie & Alyssa Podcast. Recently, he did a live joint venture with Camila Banus (Gabi) in which they answered questions from fans.
He also created a fun behind-the-scenes video from this year’s Daytime Emmys that he posted to Instagram, which you can see below. The prolific actor seems to be firing on all cylinders but luckily for DAYS fans, he’s sticking around for a while.
Days of our Lives (DOOL) airs weekdays on NBC. Check your local listings for airtimes.
