Soap vet Linsey Godfrey portrays Sarah Horton Cook on Days of our Lives, and she got her start in daytime with her portrayal of Caroline Spencer on The Bold and the Beautiful. Over the years, the actress has been outspoken about her mental health issues, and she’s working to help destigmatize talking about it.
Linsey Godfrey Talks Mental Health
The actress recently took to Instagram to share photos and a video from her appearance on Lifestyle Magazine TV Show, which you can see here. She also wrote an informational caption to accompany them.
“I’m so grateful to @lifestylemagtv for having me on to discuss mental health issues and my goal to destigmatize mental health issues and change the conversation around it and how we view sufferers,” she wrote.
“Truthfully, to be completely transparent, I feel like I’m still figuring out how to talk about this subject. I honestly do get so nervous talking to other people in general. I truly do suffer from severe anxiety/social anxiety, and if you watch the interview, you’ll see me wringing my hands throughout it, which is always a tell for me when I’m anxious. I’m still learning when it comes to navigating these things.
“I feel like I want to give a big thank you to @selenagomez since I mention her in the interview, for sharing her diagnosis. It was her bravery that gave me the courage to speak about mine,” admitted Godfrey. “I’m endlessly grateful to everyone in the public eye who comes forward with their mental health issues. It helps so much knowing you’re not alone and seeing people who suffer with these things go on to be successful people and who are still navigating their disorders while maintaining that level of success. Professionally and personally.
“If anyone reading this and is relieved to know they aren’t alone, then I’ve done my job. If you are suffering silently right now, I want you know, you’re not alone. I’m here.”
Godfrey went on to speak about her daughter with The Young and the Restless alum, Robert Adamson (ex-Noah Newman), Aleda Seren Adamson. “I usually don’t share photos of my daughter so I can keep her privacy, but these photos of her and ones with my manager/sister/mama Selena ( @soulla8 ) were too good not to share. I really enjoy public speaking and I truly hope I get to do more of it to share my experiences.
“If you or anyone you love are struggling please reach out for help,” Linsey Godfrey encouraged. “Please head over to @lifestylemagtv to watch the full interview or click the link in my story. Thank you 💚 Lins.”
