While Greg Rikaart is back playing Kevin regularly on The Young and the Restless, he did appear once again as his Days of our Lives character, Leo Stark, for the show’s hilarious April Fool’s Day episode. With that said, he’s been facing far more drama off the set. The actor has been battling COVID-19 and finally has some great news to share.
While most of the country is practicing social distancing to protect themselves from the virus, Rikaart has already battled the coronavirus — isolating himself for a couple of weeks to try to protect his family. He posted a video update to his Twitter and Instagram accounts — and it’s very good news.
“Hi everybody, ” he started off, looking better than he has in a while. “I just wanted to let you know I’m doing fantastic. Easily 95% better than I was the last time I made one of these messages. The only thing is I still have a little bit of a lingering cough and I guess I have to work on rebuilding my strength and my energy.
“But I’m feeling really good, stronger and better every day and I wanted to let you all know first and foremost. Secondly, I wanted to thank you all for the incredibly kind and generous messages of support you sent my way which really lifted my spirits at a time when they needed to be lifted.”
The actor then revealed a bit more about his battle and its toll. “There was a scary couple of days there,” he admitted. Thankfully, Rikaart has been winning the battle that too many others around the world have lost.
“So thank you all. I hope you’re continuing to stay safe. I know the isolation and the social distancing is difficult but it’s necessary. So be well, thank you all again and see you soon.”
Many of his fellow actors from all across daytime were quick to send their congrats, including most of his YR castmates — even new mom (and his onscreen wife) Elizabeth Hendrickson from YR.
