February 4 is World Cancer Day — a time to raise awareness of cancer and to encourage its prevention but it will be remembered for a similar but devastating reason for soap veteran Chrishell Stause.

Chrishell Stause Opens Up

The alumni of several soaps including Days of our Lives, where she played Jordan, All My Children, where she played Amanda, and The Young and the Restless where she played Bethany, Stause took to Instagram near the end of the day to reveal heartbreaking news.

“I just found out today is #worldcancerday eerily on the same day I found out my mom has 1 to 2 months to live from the same lung cancer that took my dad on Easter,” she shared, along with an image of a flickering candle marking the international day. This is yet another hit for an actress who has had to deal with way too much in one calendar year.

As she mentioned, she’s already had to survive her father’s death last spring, which was incredibly heartbreaking for her but then in the fall she had to deal with the end of her marriage to former YR actor Justin Hartley (ex-Adam), who currently stars on the NBC hit This Is Us.

Big Heart

“I can’t make sense of what life is teaching me yet, but my heart is with every person fighting this horrible disease and every person that it robbed a loved one from. #fuckcancer #standuptocancer”

Lung cancer was recently in the news when conservative radio host Rush Limbaugh revealed that he has advanced-stage lung cancer to his listeners on Monday.

It’s a safe bet that fans would join Soap Hub in saying that our hearts are with Chrishell Stause during this incredibly difficult time.
