Soap Opera Ratings Update: Days of our Lives Takes Over A Top Spot

Days of our Lives, one of two soap operas still airing original content, has risen to the top of the soap opera ratings in the coveted Women 18-49 (W18-19) demographic for the week ending May 10.

According to the latest Nielsen ratings, DAYS ranked first among the four daytime dramas in W18-49 with .39 rating and General Hospital came in second with a .38 rating. The two CBS soaps, The Young and the Restless and The Bold and the Beautiful, came in, respectively, third and fourth with a .28 and a .20 rating.

In total households, YR still came in first with a 1.75 rating, GH was second with a 1.70, DAYS was third with 1.44, and BB came in fourth with 1.36.

What was airing on the soaps last week? Days of our Lives focused on the fallout of Kristen (Stacy Haiduk) stabbing Victor (John Aniston) while Sarah (Linsey Godfrey) clubbed Rex (Kyle Lowder) over the head after he tried to call the police on her for kidnapping baby Rachel. Meanwhile, Maggie (Suzanne Rogers) learned that she was responsible for killing her own granddaughter!

On GH, Sam (Kelly Monaco) and Kristina (Lexi Ainsworth) exchanged heated words in front of Molly (Haley Pullos) and their mother, Alexis (Nancy Lee Grahn). Robert (Tristan Rogers) and Mac (John J. York) mourned the death (or is it “death”) of Holly (Emma Samms).

YR aired a series of classic episodes related to Victor (Eric Braeden) and Nikki’s (Melody Thomas Scott) relationship culminating in the couple’s re-marriage in 2002. BB aired a series of classic weddings including Eric (John McCook) and Brooke’s (Katherine Kelly Lang) Palm Springs ceremony that ended with the couple taking off in a hot air balloon.
