As of late, actress Lauren Koslow has been at the center of a most reviled storyline. Fans of her character, the viperish Kate Roberts DiMera, swore left, right, and center that she would never fake blindness to keep a man; instead, she’d more than likely plot to murder his lady friend and frame him for the crime – ask Chloe Lane and Daniel Jonas all about it!
But now, the jig is up, the plot put to pasture, and, thanks to a series of riveting scenes featuring Kate at her most deliciously dramatic, Koslow has won Soap Hub’s Performer of the Week Award.
Kate’s decision to strip erstwhile lover Jake DiMera (Brandon Barash) of the DiMera Enterprises CEO-ship stunned the voting board – especially Jake! By way of explanation, Kate blamed loud mouth Gabi Hernandez DiMera (Camila Banus) and her constant interference.
When Jake beseeched Kate to change her vote, she agreed that she would – but only on the proviso that he pack up all of their things, get them the hell out of dodge, and swear that he’ll never see nor speak to Gabi ever again.
When Jake wondered how he could possibly make a move and still helm the company, Kate cuttingly countered that “everybody is working from home these days.” But Jake couldn’t keep up the ruse any longer. He loves Gabi – and he made that abundantly clear to Kate.
He’s so sorry for hurting her, but he can’t live the lie any longer….and neither can Kate. “I’m not blind, I never have been…I have to admit, I was also faking the amnesia, so, actually, unfortunately, I saw the two of you going at it like two dogs in heat, and I don’t think that I’m going to be able to get that out of my head.”
And in case Gabi and Jake were wondering, she did this all to pay them back for their disrespectful treatment of her. There was further discussion between the three – like how exactly did Kate convince her doctor to go along with her plan; the answer, of course, was blackmail – and a slap issued to Jake’s face before Kate took her leave.
Afterward, when it had all been said and done, Kate had a confession to make to Chad: “It wasn’t [as] satisfying as I thought it would be.” Luckily, the opposite is true for fans of Lauren Koslow. Her performance was MORE than satisfying.
