Out of Sight, Out of Mind? Will DAYS Fans Miss Steve?

It’s not the first time Stephen Nichols has left Days Of Our Lives (DOOL). Kayla mourned him for years while Steve was presumed dead. (Though she also find time to get her medical degree, because those Bradys are over-achievers!)

She raised daughter Stephanie on her own. Then, when Steve returned, they had son, Joey. But Joey is in jail now, so Kayla is an empty-nester.

Sure, she’s got her job, but Steve is the love of her life. We know she’ll miss him, but what about you? Here’s how almost 10,000 responded:

Stay With Me, Baby
There is very little ambiguity here, as an almost unanimous 98% is preparing to weep bitter tears at the mere thought of Steve’s departure. So you can imagine how they’ll feel when it actually happens.

Steve has been through the soapopera gamut. He started as a non-contract thug, named after the flap of cloth covering his eye. (No one will ever convince this writer that the soap-opera spoof hero named “Brace,” who wore a back brace, was not an homage to Patch).

He got a contract, and a real name – Steve Johnson, after, well, Stephen Nichols – as well as a drastic personality shift.

No longer torturing Hope (Kristian Alfonso) and Kim (Patricia Pease), Steve was now a misunderstood anti-hero. Oh, and that missing eye? Bo (Peter Reckell) did it. So, really, who are we to judge?

Steve became a husband and a father and an all-around great guy. He can’t leave you now!

Whatevs
Steve may have been an interesting thug, but, for 2% of you, romantic lug Steve is a dud.

All he does now is sit around, dispensing advice from his old, wise man perspective. He’s no Tom Horton (Macdonald Carey). Even Alice Horton (Frances Reid) had more spunk. You’re not going to miss Steve when he’s gone.
