On Days Of Our Lives (DOOL), despite his parents begging him not to, and his brother telling him he didn’t have to, Joey, nonetheless, decided to go ahead and confess to Ava’s murder.
He had his reasons, but did he do the right thing? Over 10,000 viewers offered their own verdict.
Face The Music
They were there when Joey’s parents, Steve and Kayla (Mary Beth Evans), first met and fell in love.
When his sister, Stephanie, was born. When Steve died. When Steve (Stephen Nichols) came back. When Joey was born. When Steve disappeared again. When he came back…
You get the picture. You folks are invested in the Johnson family staying together but 71% of you still agree with Joey’s decision to face the music for his crime. Yes, he had his reasons, but keeping the secret was tearing Joey up inside.
Plus, he wouldn’t be the young man Kayla raised if he didn’t take responsibility for his actions. And pay the price for it, too.
Justifiable Homicide
On the other hand, those reasons Joey had, they were really good, counter a smaller 15%. Ava (Tamra Braun) put the Johnsons through hell. She kidnapped Kayla, she raped Steve, and she played with Joey’s head.
He killed her to protect his family. Even if it was also in cold blood. And it left her son, Tripp (Lucas Adams), bitter, angry — and vengeful.
Fat Lady Hasn’t Sung Yet
But Tripp is over it! Or, at least, not nearly as bitter, angry, and vengeful anymore. He’s not demanding Joey — or Kayla’s — head on a platter nearly as much these days.
So 15% of the audience isn’t sure if Joey (James Lastovic) did the right thing or not. He didn’t have to. All he’s going to do with his grand gesture is cause his parents even more grief.
And haven’t they been through enough?
