It looks like there may be even more personalities in store for Abigail on Days of Our Lives… and possibly in the form of someone very familiar.
Daytime Confidential reports that they have multiple sources confirming that Miller has left DAYS to pursue other interests, which means she’s looking for a primetime and film career. Kate Mansi, who won an Emmy for the role in 2017, left the soap in early 2016 for the same reason, has made a series of made-for-TV movies since.
However, Mansi is still warmly remembered as Abigail and was the first actress to make the pair known as “Chabby” beloved.
According to Daytime Confidential, sources say DAYS is already in talks with Mansi to reprise the role. If this comes to fruition, DAYS might do a seamless recast with Mansi one day taking over the role as if she’d never left.
It was Mansi’s Abigail who first had her breakdown that led to her faking her death. When Abigail returned to town lurking around corners, Miller was playing Abby and made the role her own, earning a Daytime Emmy nomination this year.
Miller also took Abby’s mental illness to new heights in a controversial DID story in which Abby killed brother-in-law Andre and split into three distinct personalities when she couldn’t handle the guilt.
If Mansi does step back into the daytime role that made her famous, don’t expect to see her on screen for another six months due to the soap’s long lead time.
As Soap Hub knows more about what’s going on with this uber-popular DAYS role, we will keep you informed.
